Most beds in the 21st century consist of the bed frame and the mattress, with the mattress sitting on top of a solid base made of either a sprung base or wooden slats. Most modern beds also include the option of a headboard for resting against and medical beds can even include side rails and in some cases both types of beds also include footboards. Beds that have headboards also normally have bed skirts which double up as dust covers that both protect and hide the actual bed frame under the mattress.
The final choice of bed which seems to becoming more common and probably the most practical type of bed is the cabin bed. Now these types of beds do come in different shapes and sizes and can offer a variety of functionality. Like the bunk beds the cabin beds are very popular with families especially children as there are themed children's beds available for both boys and girls. More importantly the cabin bed is a great space saving option as they can come with space for TVs and computers underneath them and often can have drawers and wardrobe space.
We are not discussing those all singing all dancing bed panels with all the bells and whistles such as an integrated radio, alarm clock, bookshelf and lights. We are discussing plain boards with no bells and no whistles. Your headboard can set the decorative style of a bedroom, and can also express your own style of creativity.
