Chairs are greatly varied that it will be difficult to enumerate all of them. There are chairs used for a specific sport, or a specific place. But for starters, the more common types are the ones we see at home and at work. One of these is a rocking chair. It is also called "rocker" because it moves back and forth to rock the user. It has two curved or arched bands of wood at the bottom, one attached on the two left legs and the other one is attached on the two right legs. The chair starts to rock back and forth when the user shifts weight or gently pushes the chair with his weight. It also rocks by itself when a user sits on it until the center of gravity is achieved hence giving the user a comfortable sitting position.
You won't find many overstuffed pieces, clawfoot legs, or Mission-style woodwork on these chairs. While not quite minimalist in design, a contemporary chair doesn't have anything on it to detract from the appreciation of its basic design.
Chair is a piece of furniture comprising of legs, backrest and some with armrests. There are chairs that can sit one person, while others can hold more than one. The latter is more aptly referred to as a sofa. Chairs usually have four legs, but more modern versions have futuristic designs with three legs, or the backrest extending to the floor to act as the leg.
